The product owner serves as an internal customer expert for engineering and development teams, answering questions and clarifying requirements. In that role, the product owner is tasked with making sure the product solves the right problem (value), in the right way (quality), on time (delivery) according to Speakap’s strategy (focus). This is how the product owner maximizes the value for customers.
You are the driving force behind the development of product enhancements and work alongside a multidisciplinary team of developers. You help the tech teams build what customers need, now and in the future. And you achieve this by being the bridge that connects the customer facing teams with our tech teams.
You can’t wait to get your hands into tons of feedback because that’s where you can understand what customers really want when they say, "I want this feature”. You source that feedback by speaking to customers on a weekly basis and by meeting with marketing, sales and customer success team members. Nobody needs to tell you to do this, because you want to represent the customer in meetings where they matter most.
As execution eats strategy for breakfast, you know that your job doesn’t end at building the presentation deck that shows off the roadmap. You like getting in the weeds and making sure that innovation meets the needs of customers as it’s being developed. And while that’s a big challenge, you don’t shy away from it. You’re a natural leader who inspires the tech teams to deliver outstanding software in line with the greater Speakap vision.
And because you are absorbing information, internally and externally, you are the person who brings everything together to make sure we ship software on time and in line with what customers need.
Manage the product throughout its lifecycle, including ideation, prototyping, user research, design, launch and iteration
Support the product vision team in setting out the long-term product vision
Convey the product vision and business values to the feature team, inspiring them to build incrementally better features most effectively
Serves as the customer proxy responsible for working with product management and other stakeholders—including other POs—to define and prioritize stories in the team backlog
Share progress and achievements by presenting shippable product increments to the management team and other stakeholders when relevant
Prioritize the backlog and continuously realign work items with the product vision in order to maximize value
Pave the way for the feature team by providing clear requirements and specifications, resolving all ambiguities
Verify feature development by validating the final implementations against specific acceptance criteria
Drive the development of features by collaborating with designers and engineers focusing on quality deliverables according to specification
Take part in the planning of releases, ensuring prudent increments are laid out over time, with clear goals, benefits and results
Act as liaison for the commercial team, making sure ideas, features and go-live dates are communicated clearly and consistently to the marketing, customer success and sales teams
Be the first point of contact for the feature team for all their questions, feedback and input regarding the product
Facilitate backlog grooming sessions and help the team decompose epics into smaller, still value adding, features
Lead or partake in requirement gathering efforts, mapping the needs of customers, end users and other stakeholders
Actively participate in the continuous strive for improvement, aiming at a progressively overperforming team
Help the team in developing and following a powerful definition of "done" and a strong sense of quality
Minimum of 2 years experience in Product Ownership or Product Management role;
You are a pro at prioritizing your and the tech team's work;
You not only understand the business metrics, you also use them to make decisions in your day to day work;
You have an interest in human behavior and believe that knowing what our customers need will create the best product possible;
You are endlessly curious;
You have experience in leading and inspiring people;
Problem solver is your middle name, you have the answer to all issues arising;
Experience in SaaS is a plus.
